I love blood oranges but they are only available a few months during the year. If you are lucky enough to have some on hand, make the blood orange margaritas with blood orange infused tequila. If not, you can make these blood orange juice margaritas.
When we made the Blood Orange Martini, we were lucky enough to have them in season at the time. But, now it’s summer and the beautiful fruits cannot be found.
Thankfully, while grocery shopping at Whole Foods one day I found some blood orange juice. While it’s not the same as freshly squeezed fruit, it’s an acceptable substitute in the summer when one craves these blood orange juice margaritas.
Blood Orange Juice Margaritas
4 ounces Silver Patron Tequila
6 ounces blood orange juice (or fresh squeezed blood oranges if in season)
1 fresh squeezed lime
2 ounces sweet and sour mix
2 lime wedges for garnish
Optional: Margarita salt
If you want, rim 2 margarita glasses with lime and dip in margarita salt. Fill margarita glasses with ice.
In a cocktail shaker, mix tequila, blood orange juice, lime and sweet and sour mix with ice.
Shake and strain into margarita glasses.
Garnish with lime wedges.
Makes 2 margaritas.
Summer Dinner Party
But that’s not all…We’ve joined up with some other bloggers to create a (virtual) summer dinner party. This blood orange margarita is just the opening cocktail.
