Remember the White Pear Sangria I told you that I served at my dinner party? Well, it had a brother from another mother which was this Red Wine Sangria.
My goal with this concoction was to create a beautifully dark drink that was sweet without having to add white sugar like many of the other sangria recipes I had seen online.
I think I succeeded.
Red Wine Sangria
Ingredients
1 bottle of red wine (inexpensive wine is just fine for sangria)
1 cup of Grand Marnier
1 orange
1 peach
1 nectarine
1 handful of strawberries
Preparation
Cut up the fruit into bite size pieces (I recommend also peeling the orange to make it easier to eat) and put into a large pitcher.
Add red wine and Grand Marnier.
Stir to combine and place in fridge for a few hours (the longer the better to let the flavors meld).
Serve chilled with no ice and be sure to scoop out some of the fruit pieces for each glass (those are the best part of the drink).
(Note: I made my sangria in a carafe which I do not recommend as it was very hard to get the fruit out. Put it in a large pitcher and it will be easier to serve. File under lessons learned the hard way).
Cheers!
