I’m not normally one to drink vodka and tonic. If I’m going for an easy cocktail recipe, chances are I’ll make a Tahoe Blue Vodka Cocktail. But one day while doing some grocery shopping I came across a bottle of Q Tonic in the natural food section and bought it on impulse. So this week instead of doing a spirit review I thought I would tell you about this “Superior Tonic Water” which makes a great vodka tonic.
About Q Tonic Water
Here at One Martini we believe that cocktails should be made with the highest quality ingredients and not with high fructose corn syrup. It seems the makers of Q Tonic Water believe the same. Just look at the back of the bottle. They use organic agave as sweetener instead of HFCS and the entire ingredient list contains only 5 items. Even the quinine used is handpicked.
If you’re watching your calorie intake then you’ll be happy to know that Q Tonic Water has fewer calories than the typical tonic waters (they even have a calorie comparison chart on their website you can check out). The tonic isn’t full of sweetness, instead it has a crisp, clean flavor that doesn’t take over the drink. I really enjoyed it with both Tahoe Blue Vodka and Ketel One vodka along with a fresh squeezed lime.
Where to buy Q Tonic Water
I purchased my 750 ml bottle of Q Tonic Water at Raley’s Supermarket for $6.99. I’ve also seen it sold at Whole Foods, Total Wine and BevMo! for the same price. You can even buy a 4 pack of 6.3 ounce bottles on Amazon.
Q Drinks also offers more than superior tonic water. They also have ginger ale, club soda and Kola. I haven’t tried any of the other offerings yet but I’m looking forward to testing the ginger ale at some point in the future. If you’ve tried any of these other drinks, let me know what you thought.
Vodka Tonic Recipe
I’m sure everyone on the planet knows how to make a vodka tonic but just in case, here’s a recipe.
- 2 ounces vodka
- Q Tonic Water
- Lime or lemon for garnish
- Pour vodka into a rocks or highball glass over ice.
- Top with Q Tonic Water.
- Garnish with your choice of lime or lemon wedge.
If you haven’t tried this superior tonic water yet, we recommend that you do. You owe your cocktails the finest ingredients and this tonic water is at the top of the list.
Cheers!
