Swedish Glogg

Swedish Glogg is a hot, mulled wine that is enjoyed during Christmastime. The taste of red wine and whiskey is too strong for some; adding triple sec makes this potent drink a little sweeter (and a little more potent).

Swedish Glogg Ingredients

  • 1 quart red Sangria
  • 1 pint Dry Sherry
  • 1 pint Whiskey
  • 15 Cardamon Pods
  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 20 Whole Cloves
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 20 skinned and blanched Almonds
  • 20 sugar cubes
  • Orange Peel, to taste
  • Triple Sec, to taste

Swedish Glogg Preparation

In a large pan, combine sangria and sherry and heat just below boil. Remove seeds from cardamon pods and combine with cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange peel in a cheese cloth. Drop into wine mixture.

Glogg spices

Add whiskey, sugar, raisins and almonds. Add Triple Sec, if desired. Cook on low for 20 minutes.

Swedish Glogg

Remove mixture from heat and carefully remove cheese cloth.

Serve hot in a coffee mug with almonds and raisins.

Enjoy your cup of hot Swedish Glogg by the Christmas Tree. Just like Grandpa Dale.
